Borhan Uddin Ahmed, Member of Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority of Bangladesh had a highly decorated and illustrious career in Bangladesh Judiciary. Having joined since 1984, he delivered remarkable and landmark judgements in his tenure as Judge. One of the most notable case being the case of Sharon Jalil which was accepted all over the world and was praised by different organizations including Voice of America. Before he retired as a District and Sessions Judge in 2012, he served as the Special Court 1, Dhaka. He was later appointed as the Member, Review Panel-4, CPTU Planning Commission where he adjudicated over the tender disputes. In 2016, he was appointed as an Independent Director of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited and also a member of the Executive Committee of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited prior to joining IDRA.
After joining IDRA, he attended the International conference on Insurance organized by IRDA India where Indian Vice President, MuppavarapuVenkaiah Naidu was present. He also attended ASSOCHEM conference held in Calcutta, West Bengal, India where he was the chief guest. He also attended training held at Hyderabad and Mumbai on development of Insurance. He also attended the United Nations Global Fintech Festival 2018, held in Singapore on November 2018. He travelled to United Kingdom, Belgium, France, Netherland and Germany.
Mr. Borhan Uddin Ahmed born in a respected noble family of Mymensingh on 12th May in 1953. In his personal life he is married. His wife Mrs. Asma Ahmed is a house wife. They are blessed with one daughter and one son. His son is a Barrister-at-Law by profession and his daughter is attending school. He fought as a freedom fighter in the Great War of Independence on 1971.
